Will Q registration marks become available for sale?

  • The Agency has decided that it will not be releasing Q registration marks for sale. It has emerged that the costs involved in providing sale and transfer facilities would be greater than any return, given the limited number of vehicles that would be eligible to participate. Additionally, the recent review of registration inspection procedures indicated very strong support for retaining the existing policy on Q marks, for consumer protection reasons.

What is the telephone number of your telesales business?

  • You can purchase online but if you prefer you can call our sales team on 0870 6000 142. Lines are open Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm and Saturday 9.00am - 1.00pm. Calls can cost up to 10p/min from BT landlines. The price of calls may vary with other operators and mobiles.

The prices advertised for registrations being offered for sale at our auctions / sealed bid sales are reserve prices. Bidding will start from these prices and exclude the assignment fee, VAT and buyer's premium.

What happens if I'm buying a personalised registration as a gift or on behalf of someone else?

  • If you are buying a DVLA personalised registration for, or on behalf of another person you will be recorded as the purchaser and the person for whom the registration has been bought for will be recorded as the nominee.
